Philippe de Hautecloque, dit Leclerc, est un militaire français, né le 22 novembre 1902 à Belloy-Saint-Léonard (Somme) et mort le 28 novembre 1947 près de Colomb-Béchar en Algérie.
Leclerc est son nom de guerre dans la France libre. Par décret, en 1945, il a été autorisé à porter ce nom en plus de son véritable nom, devenant ainsi Leclerc de Hautecloque. Il fut général pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale et nommé maréchal ensuite.
Capitaine lors de la Débâcle de l'armée française en 1940, il échappe à l'envahisseur allemand et passe en Angleterre pour rejoindre le général de Gaulle.
Il aida, avec son armée rassemblée en Afrique, à lutter contre les forces de l'Axe. En effet, il est d'abord commandant militaire de l'Afrique-Équatoriale Française (A-EF). À partir de 1941, il entame une série d'opérations qui lui permettent de rejoindre les forces britanniques d'Afrique. Il participe alors à la campagne de Tunisie.
Il prend part au Débarquement de Normandie à la tête de la 2e division blindée, une unité française des Forces Françaises Libres (FFL). Les Américains lui laissent alors l'honneur de libérer Paris à la tête de la même unité. Il continue ses opérations jusqu'en Allemagne, puis est envoyé en Indochine et reçoit, au nom de la France, la capitulation du Japon.

En l'hommage du Maréchal Leclerc, la ville de Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire érigea un stèle et baptisé le rond-point où elle est située en son nom. Il y est inscrit :

[EN] Philippe de Hautecloque, known as Leclerc, is a French soldier, born November 22, 1902 in Belloy-Saint-Léonard (Somme) and died November 28, 1947 near Colomb-Béchar in Algeria.
Leclerc is his war name in Free France. By decree, in 1945, he was authorized to bear this name in addition to his real name, thus becoming Leclerc de Hautecloque. He was a general during World War II and subsequently appointed marshal.
Captain during the debacle of the French army in 1940, he escaped the German invader and went to England to join General de Gaulle.
He helped, with his army gathered in Africa, to fight against the Axis forces. Indeed, he was first military commander of French Equatorial Africa (A-EF). From 1941, he began a series of operations which allowed him to join the British forces in Africa. He then took part in the Tunisian campaign.
He took part in the Normandy Landings at the head of the 2nd Armored Division, a French unit of the Free French Forces (FFL). The Americans then left him the honor of liberating Paris at the head of the same unit. It continued its operations as far as Germany, then was sent to Indochina and received, on behalf of France, the surrender of Japan.
