The bell is attached to a #22 yoke, identified as having been produced by old reliable, "The C.S. Bell Co." and "Hillsboro, O." The yoke is attached to a wood platform that is sitting on a base at the top of a steel tower that's about 20' high. Sharp eyes will notice 'round the back that there's a rope attached to the yoke wheel, and they probably lower that for the right occasion as opposed to leaving it out for abuse. The tower is strengthened by two crossbars, and on the lower one is attached a sign that notes the bell's history:

Era ISD School Bell

-------------------

The first Era school bell was installed in 1913 in a large two story building with a bell tower on top. The bell was use in the morning and afternoon to call in or dismiss the classes.

Later it was moved to the Southeast part of the playground and was used until sometime in the 1950's at Era ISD. The bell was always rung after each winning football game.

The dedication of the new antique bell was held October 24, 2009 and was purchased and donated by former students. This is an exciting time to see the bell placed on the school grounds. We are proud of our school and this will show pride for our school.

We can stop and think and still remember the ring of the school bell. May it once again ring victoriously for all students and teachers of Era School.
