The Tour de France ?is an annual men's multiple-stage bicycle race primarily held in France, while also occasionally passing through nearby countries. Like the other Grand Tours (the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España), it consists of 21 stages, each a day long, over the course of 23 days.
In 2014 the opening stages of the race were held in the county of Yorkshire to great excitement for the locals. On the day of the second stage the race passed through Knaresborough alongside the small grassy area where this sculpture is located.
There is a stone marked on the wall behind the cycles.

Although the sculpture is obviously static it manages to capture the actions of the cyclists racing along the road.
