A welcome sign for the City of Clewiston with its slogan of 'America's Sweetest Town'. The slogan is derived from the sugar cane industry that is centered in Clewiston. The U.S. Sugar Corporation is headquartered here. For more than 85 years U.S.Sugar has been planting, growing and harvesting sugar cane, citrus and sweet corn. Producing nearly 10 percent of all sugar produced in the United States, over 150 million glasses of orange juice and half of Florida's sweet corn crop.
Further artwork on the sign shows the location of Clewiston in relationship to Lake Okeechobee and a bass fish indicative of the second major industry of the town which is sport fishing on Florida's largest lake.
