From the website, "Rector Gate is a festive archway marking the intersection of Rector Place and the Hudson River Esplanade. Rising 50 feet high, the gate is inspired by Russian Constructivism and Science Fiction. This artwork brings the romantic grandiosity of New York's early skyscrapers and engineering feats to a human scale."
