In addition to the clapper bridge from the 13th century, a new stone arch bridge was built in 1772, which provides road transport.

"LYDFORD POSTBRIDGE SX 67 NW 11/56 Road Bridge - GV II

Road bridge over East Dart river. Late C18. Granite rubble. 3-span round arches which have projecting keystone, central arch taller. Small triangular cutwaters. Cranked parapet with roughly shaped coping stones and slightly swept-out abutments. This bridge superceded the adjoining clapper bridge (q.v.) and was erected following the 2 acts of 1772 to turnpike the road between Tavistock and Moretonhampstead."
