Dolstad Church, which is a wooden church, is octagonal with side buildings. The tower is also octagonal. It was completed in 1734 and is in the same format as Bakke Church. The builder was Nils Pedersen Bech.
The church has been restored around 1880, 1970 and 2007.
In 1814 at Norway's first national election, this church was used as an election church.


The congregation in Dolstad church belongs to the Church of Norway. It is an evangelical Lutheran denomination of Protestant Christianity and by far the largest Christian church in Norway.
