An easy hike to the Genoese tower of Agnello, is located in the very north of Corsica, in the Cap Corse. The route first runs along a sandy beach and then follows beautiful rocks to the tower, which sits on a small peninsula.

Depuis Bastia, dirigez-vous vers le nord en suivant la route le long de la côte est du Cap Corse (D80). Au bout d’une demi-heure, vous atteignez Macinaggio. La route quitte ici la côte. Après un peu plus d’un quart d’heure, une autre route bifurque à droite vers Tollare (D153) et Barcaggio (D253). Si vous voyagez en camping-car, choisissez impérativement l’itinéraire via Tollare. Si vous voyagez en voiture, vous pouvez prendre la première route à l’aller et la seconde au retour. Le point de départ du circuit se situe sur le parking de la plage de Barcaggio. Il est situé à 250 m à l’est du petit port. Il faut compter 2 € de frais de stationnement.
Descriptif de la randonnée à la tour d’Agnello
Cette randonnée fait partie du circuit du « sentier des douaniers » qui mène de Macinaggio à Centuri en passant par Barcaggio et Tollare. Je décris ici une autre section (Macinaggio – tour de Santa Maria).
Depuis le parking, nous marchons en direction de la plage et traversons le ruisseau l’Acqua Tignese sur un épais tapis d’algues. Ensuite, nous suivons la plage et rencontrons plusieurs fois des vaches en liberté. Après un quart d’heure, on arrive au restaurant A Cala. 10 minutes plus tard, on arrive tout à l’est de la plage de Barcaggio. De là, le sentier mène par-dessus les falaises de schiste vert typiques du Cap Corse. Le contraste avec le bleu de la mer est très beau. Bientôt, on voit la tour génoise que l’on atteint en à peine une heure.
Depuis la tour d’Agnello, à laquelle on peut accéder mais dont la terrasse est malheureusement fermée, on profite d’une très jolie vue.
Le chemin du retour est le même. Il n’y a quasiment pas d’ombre pendant toute la durée du parcours. Il est donc recommandé d’effectuer cette randonnée le matin ou en début de soirée.

Description of the hike to the Agnello tower
This hike is part of the circuit of the "sentier des douaniers" which leads from Macinaggio to Centuri via Barcaggio and Tollare. I describe here another section (Macinaggio - Santa Maria tower).
From the car park we walk towards the beach and cross the Acqua Tignese stream on a thick carpet of seaweed. Then we follow the beach and meet several times cows running free. After a quarter of an hour we reach the restaurant A Cala. 10 minutes later we arrive at the eastern end of Barcaggio beach. From there, the path leads over the typical green schist cliffs of the Cap Corse. The contrast with the blue of the sea is very beautiful. Soon, the Genoese tower comes into view, which can be reached in barely an hour.
From the Agnello tower, which can be reached but whose terrace is unfortunately closed, we enjoy a very nice view.
The way back is the same. There is hardly any shade during the whole walk. It is therefore recommended to do this hike in the morning or early evening.
