Ribadeo celebrates today the big day of the Carmen festivities. At one thirty in the afternoon the vermouth session will begin, with the Trovadores orchestra, on the esplanade of the pier. At six o'clock in the afternoon the campaign mass will be celebrated in the church of A Atalaia and the image of the Virgin in procession will be lowered to the dock. The delegation will advance accompanied by the Catro Canos quartet, from the Amigos da Gaita association. At the dock, they will board the boats to take a tour of the estuary and make a wreath. The maritime procession will pass through Figueras and Castropol and following tradition, despite not being a working day, in Gondán they will play the sirens to celebrate the passing of the Virgin.
Back at the port, the Ribadeo Polyphonic Choir will sing two pieces: Salve Mariñeira and Mariñeiro. Then, they will go up again to the church of A Atalaia to leave the image of the Virgen del Carmen.
