[FR] L'église Sainte-Marie-Madeleine est située Place de l'Eglise, dans le centre d'Azay-sur-Cher.

Cette église fut construite au XIIème siècle (nef et clocher) puis reconstruite en partie et agrandie au XVème siècle (1460 : chapelle seigneuriale et flèche du clocher). La nef fut rebâtie en 1790, et l'église agrandie en 1856-57 par l'architecte Gustave Guérin pour arriver à son configuration actuelle.

Les vitraux furent réalisés par le maître-verrier Lobin en 1886. Entre 1856 et 1880, l'abbé Guillot, curé d'Azay-sur-Cher, a sculpté lui-même le décor intérieur de style néo-gothique, toujours en place.

Le clocher du XIIème siècle est inscrit aux Monuments Historiques en 1947.

[EN] The Sainte-Marie-Madeleine church is located Place de l'Eglise, in the center of Azay-sur-Cher.

This church was built in the 12th century (nave and bell tower) then partly rebuilt and enlarged in the 15th century (1460: seigneurial chapel and spire of the bell tower). The nave was rebuilt in 1790, and the church was enlarged in 1856-57 by the architect Gustave Guérin to arrive at its current configuration.

The stained-glass windows were produced by the master glassmaker Lobin in 1886. Between 1856 and 1880, Father Guillot, parish priest of Azay-sur-Cher, himself sculpted the interior decoration in neo-Gothic style, which is still in place.

The 12th century bell tower was listed as a Historic Monument in 1947.
