"He grew up in the city of Brabant and emigrated to America as a 19-year-old. There Dries changed his name to Colonel Thomas A. Parker and became world famous as manager of Elvis Presley. He never returned to Breda and died in Las Vegas in 1997 at the age of 87.
'Proud of this piece of Dutch Elvis history'
The plaque is placed by fan club ElvisMatters. "It is incomprehensible that the city of Breda did not come up with this before," said Michel van Erp, chairman of the fan club. "The role Dries van Kuijk from Breda has played in the life and career of the greatest entertainer ever is great. We are proud of this piece of Dutch Elvis history and would like to show it to visitors to the city of Breda."
The plaque is placed in the Wijngaardhof, not far from the place where Dries van Kuijk was born on June 26, 1909."
