Wild turkeys are not an uncommon occurrence in this part of North Texas, but they tend to not be quite as large and robust as suggested by the sculpture. They're fairly shy and would prefer to just head off into the brush, although there was a fairly brazen one in nearby Argyle, dubbed "Tom", who liked to wander the neighborhoods and inspect things.
This sign provides a nice photo of a male wild turkey, strutting along, with an inset of a female with chicks. It provides a physical description and some background as to their eating habits, their activities, and their capabilities. Their talons are depicted as well: Compare them with the ones you see in the pavement, giving the illusion that the nearby sculpture left them.
