Located on the side of a building, this is a fading sign for Chesson's Dept. Store. The 'C' is in a green painted block. The remaining letters had been painted in darker black or brown paint over a light tan or yellow background. There are fading hearts on either side of the fading sign. Chesson's had occupied the building for 40 years. When the building became vacant it fell into disrepair. Preservation North Carolina purchased the building and restored it leaving the fading sign intact outside.
