In 1948, the city of Ottawa created Elmdale Park on land from the original Reid Farm. The old Reid farmhouse was still standing as recently as 2017. A remnant of the farmhouse interior wall now has interpretive sign boards.
The wading pool dates back to that park in the late 1940s. Posted co-ordinates were taken at the pool. The Elmdale Lawn Bowls Club was also part of that original park design.
In the 1950s, before the railroad became the Queensway highway, there was room for an outdoor skating rink west of the pool.
The park is now known as Reid Park. I encountered no signs for the park.
