CoA on the south face of St Andrew's church tower, Cubley. Believed to be that of John Vernon, husband of Ellen (Montgomery) Vernon.

John Vernon -
"Sir John Vernon was the son of Sir Henry Vernon and Lady Anne Talbot. He married Ellen Montgomery, daughter of Sir John Montgomery. He died on 9 February 1545/46.

He was custos rotulorum of Derbyshire. He acquired Sudbury, Derbyshire through his wife. He was member of the Council of Wales and the Marches."
