La chapelle Sainte-Hélène a été reconstruite en 1755 dans un style néo-classique, à partir d’un réemploi de pierres plus anciennes datant de la première édification vers 1480. Parée de pierres de taille, granit et de micaschiste provenant de la carrière du Port Rhu, son plan est inhabituellement orienté Nord-Sud et présente un dénivelé important.
La chapelle est dédiée à Sainte-Hélène, mère de l’empereur romain Constantin qui a reconnu officiellement la religion chrétienne en 313. Elle aurait rapporté des reliques de la croix du Christ. Près du chœur, la statue en bois polychrome du XVIIe siècle la représentant est l’œuvre d’un ébéniste de la Marine de Brest.

The Sainte-Hélène chapel was rebuilt in 1755 in a neoclassical style, from a reuse of older stones dating from the first construction around 1480. Adorned with freestone, granite and mica slate from the quarry of the Port Rhu, its plan is unusually oriented North-South and has a significant drop.
The chapel is dedicated to Saint Helena, mother of the Roman Emperor Constantine who officially recognized the Christian religion in 313. It is said to have brought back relics of the cross of Christ. Near the choir, the polychrome wooden statue from the 17th century representing it is the work of a cabinetmaker from the Brest Navy.
