The building on which this relief is located is described as follows:

Translated from the above noted text:

The artistic value of Fire Station # 23 is based on the quality of the exterior architecture and the Art Deco style decor. The interest of the building is increased tenfold by the fact that it has retained most of its characteristic elements, including its hose tower, its facade materials in buff brick and artificial stone, as well as its various decorative elements. The facade bears witness to a great aesthetic concern and is characterized by its symmetry, the presence of ornamental details including the contrast between the facing brick and the artificial stone elements such as the pilasters, the various bas-reliefs representative of the double function of fire station and police station, the coat of arms of the City of Montreal, various medallions and decorative friezes with geometric and floral motifs, all finely carved in artificial stone.

This public building has retained its original function as a fire station since its inauguration in 1931 and has a good degree of authenticity. The fire station is still used for this purpose to this day.
