Inscription on the plaque:
The Canadian Horse
Between 1665 and 1671, around 82 horses set foot in the country. Due to geographical conditions, horses developed in isolation. In less than a hundred years, the Canadian horse had become the little iron horse so popular with our neighbours to the South and by the English after the conquest of 1760. Over the centuries, the Canadian horse helped clear a vast territory, contributed to its economic development and participated in several wars.
Unveiled in Montreal on the 350th anniversary of the arrival of the first horses in New France.
