The lifespan of the daisy sculpture is extended by restoration
The Daisy sculpture by Jani Rättä and Antti Stöckell, located in front of the Forum Marinum in Turku, is currently being restored. The rotten wooden parts of the sculpture are replaced, the petals are repaired and the whole work is repainted in the original paint tones. The restoration work will be completed by May 24.
The sculpture, erected in 2011, is 25 meters long and is made of wood, metal and reinforced plastic. The sculpture is originally part of the Flux Aura event related to the Turku Capital of Culture year. Flux Aura was an international environmental art event coordinated by the Turku Artists' Association, within the framework of which a total of 12 environmental art works were erected on the banks of the Aura River across the river. The daisy was meant to be a temporary work, but due to its great popularity, it has been allowed to remain in place. The aim of the restoration is to prolong the life of the work.
The restoration work will be carried out by artist Jani Rättyä and restoration painter Kati Auvinen in collaboration with the Turku Museum Centre's conservation unit.
