" The large, beautiful Gothic church dominates the village houses, which are arranged in a circle around it. The basilical ground plan provides for a heavy tower with stair turret on the northeast side, five naves of three bays, a non-protruding transept and a choir leading to a five-sided apse, flanked by sacristies.

Choir of ironstone, with projecting buttresses that rhythm the bays; simple lancet windows (second half of the 13th century); originally not vaulted, but after the fire in 1751 covered with a classicist barrel vault with wooden boarding; first window on the north side, on the inside conceived as a false window. Northern sacristy with rib vaults erected at the same time as the choir; south sacristy from the 18th century.

Construction continued with the south transept arm where the ornamental bands are less refined than elsewhere; double rectangular bay with cross rib vaults (first half of the 14th century).

During the 15th century the north transverse arm and most of the naves were built on round columns: Gothic vaulting with vanishing profiles; transept deprived of its eastern and western arches since the addition of the lower enclosure in the 18th century; eastern gable of the nave constructed of brick (idem). Western ends of the aisles and north wall were not completed until later in the 16th century.

The huge Gothic tower belongs to the same building campaign as the main nave (15th century); any part which, except for the substructure, together with its massive buttresses is built of sand-lime brick; unfinished spire; high arcade towards the nave with deeply elaborate decorative bands; under the rood screen from the 18th century."

"La grande et belle église gothique domine les maisons du village, qui sont disposées en cercle autour d'elle. Le plan basilical prévoit une tour lourde avec tourelle d'escalier côté nord-est, cinq nefs de trois travées, un transept non saillant et un chœur aboutissant à une abside à cinq pans, flanquée de sacristies.

Chœur de pierre de fer, aux contreforts saillants qui rythment les travées ; fenêtres à lancettes simples (seconde moitié du XIIIe siècle) ; à l'origine non voûtée, mais après l'incendie de 1751 recouverte d'une voûte en berceau classique avec bardage en bois ; première fenêtre côté nord, à l'intérieur conçue comme une fausse fenêtre. Sacristie nord à voûtes d'ogives érigées en même temps que le chœur ; sacristie sud du XVIIIe siècle.

La construction s'est poursuivie avec le bras sud du transept où les bandes ornementales sont moins raffinées qu'ailleurs ; double travée rectangulaire couverte de voûtes d'ogives (première moitié du XIVe siècle).

Au XVe siècle, le bras transversal nord et la plus grande partie des nefs sont construits sur des colonnes rondes : voûte gothique à profils évasés ; transept privé de ses arcades est et ouest depuis l'adjonction de l'enceinte inférieure au XVIIIe siècle ; pignon oriental de la nef construit en brique (idem). Les extrémités ouest des bas-côtés et le mur nord n'ont été achevés que plus tard au XVIe siècle.

L'immense tour gothique appartient au même édifice de campagne que la nef principale (XVe siècle) ; toute partie qui, à l'exception de la sous-structure, avec ses contreforts massifs est construite en briques silico-calcaires ; flèche inachevée; haute arcade vers la nef avec des bandes décoratives profondément élaborées; sous le jubé du XVIIIe siècle."

"De grote, mooie gotische kerk beheerst de dorpshuizen, die er in een cirkel rondom geschaard zijn. Het basilicale grondplan voorziet in een zware toren met traptoren aan de noordoostzijde, vijf beuken van drie traveeën, een niet uitspringend transept en een op een vijfzijdige apsis uitlopend koor, geflankeerd door sacristieën.

Koor van ijzerzandsteen, voorzien van uitspringende steunberen die de traveeën ritmeren; eenvoudige lancetvensters (tweede helft 13de eeuw); oorspronkelijk niet overwelfd doch na de brand in 1751 overkluisd met een classicistisch tongewelf met houten bebording; eerste venster aan de noordzijde, aan de binnenkant opgevat als schijnraam. Noordsacristie met kruisribgewelven opgetrokken gelijktijdig met het koor; zuidsacristie uit de 18de eeuw.

Opbouw voortgezet met de zuidtranseptarm waar de sierbanden minder verfijnd zijn dan elders; dubbele rechthoekige travee overkluisd met kruisribgewelven (eerste helft 14de eeuw).

Tijdens de 15de eeuw oprichting van de noorddwarsarm en van het grootste deel der beuken op ronde zuilen: gotische overwelving met tenietlopende profielen; transept van zijn oostelijke en westelijke bogen beroofd sedert de toevoeging van de lagere overkluizing uit de 18de eeuw; oostelijke puntgevel van de beuk opgetrokken uit baksteen (idem). Westelijke uiteinden van de zijbeuken en noordwand pas later voltooid tijdens de 16de eeuw.

De enorme gotische toren behoort tot dezelfde bouwcampagne als de hoofdbeuk (15de eeuw); enig deel dat, op de onderbouw na, samen met zijn massieve steunberen opgetrokken is uit kalkzandsteen; onvoltooide torenspits; hoge arcade naar de beuk toe voorzien van diep uitgewerkte sierbanden; onder het doksaal overwelving uit de 18de eeuw."
