"Mt. Olive Church purchased the land for its building on 13 December 1870. The church was clearly standing by 1877. It was noted in 1881, in The Methodist, that "the building at Mt. Olive has been completed and remodeled." Local history records that Wesley Harrison and William Henry Gosnell were responsible for building the first and present church buildings, but there is no record of when the first church may have been replaced. When the Morgan Charge was created in 1909. The four churches in the Morgan Charge, Mt. Olive, Morgan Chapel, Watersville, and West Falls, formed a committee to build a new parsonage. The house and floor plan bear a striking resemblance to Modem Home No. 102, "The Hamilton", •advertised in the 1908 Sears, Roebuck and Co. Modern Homes catalogue. It is possible that the building committee used this plan as a model for the parsonage, and hired a local builder to executive it, but it is more likely that they purchased the house kit, hauled it to the site and constructed it."
