To reach Dunkin Cemetery, the following directions will assist you in avoiding the river.
From Ripley, travel 2 miles north on Hwy 108 to E670 Road (Mehan Road), Go east 4 miles to CR N3560 (Clay Road), then south about one-half mile. Cemetery is on the east.
From Cushing, travel north 4 miles on Hwy 18, then 4 miles west on CR 670 (W. Dunkin Road), then one-half mile south on CR3560 (Clay Road).
Dunkin Cemetery is a square cemetery completely surrounded by a five-block high concrete block wall. At the entrance is a concrete arch with the name Sarah C. Dunkin / July 1, 1919. We assume the date of 7/1/1919 is when the arch was installed as Sarah Dunkin was born in 1852 and died February 20, 1944. There are 22 burials in this cemetery, the earliest being in 1901 and the latest in 2003.
There are no trees in the cemetery, although they surround the area outside the wall. The grass is very high and no maintenance appears to be taking place. This is a Dunkin family cemetery and all of the burials here are members of the extended family, including surnames Canfield and Brown.
(While visiting, be sure not to miss Bend Cemetery, immediately south of Dunkin. It is totally hidden in the woods, with no signage.)
