The church in Skarsvåg is a small wooden church with room for 60 people. It is a newer church, built in 1961 and designed by the Norwegian architect Rolf Harlew Jenssen.
There has previously been a church at Skarsvåg. Around the 16th century there was a church, however, located about 3 km from this new one. The old church had been demolished in 1748.
The congregation in Skarsvåg church belongs to the Church of Norway. It is an evangelical Lutheran denomination of Protestant Christianity and by far the largest Christian church in Norway.
