In front of Alexandra Hotell in Molde is a bust of Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, Norwegian author, who arwarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1903.
Bjørnstjerne Martinius Bjørnson born 8 December 1832 on Kvikne north of Tynset, died 26 April 1910 in Paris. In 1837, the father was ordained a priest in Romsdal and Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson therefore went to school in Molde.
He became a student in 1852 and marked himself early as a literary and theater critic. Later he became director of first Bergen Theater and subsequently Christiania Theater.
He made his breakthrough as a writer in 1857 with stories about Norwegian farmers. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson wrote in many genres and was politically involved. He is also the author of the Norwegian National Anthem "Ja, vi elsker dette landet (1859)"
