The plaque says, "Erected by the citizens of Kalamazoo city and county to commemorate the valor and patriotism of those who served in the war with Spain, the Philippine insurrection and the China relief expedition. Dedicate May 30th A.D. 1924 under the auspices of Richard Westnedge camp No. 16 United Spanish War Veterans. Department of Michigan." This is located in the middle of the park, near the parking lot on the north end. This memorial is in the public and is next to a geocache. This is a city and county park and the memorial is one of things that make this park so historic.
