Long Description:
The Sailboat/Trees sculpture is placed in Covell Park along the White Lake Art Walk Trail located in Whitehall, Michigan. The steel sculpture was created by George Ramsay in 2010.

“…The steel sculpture, which will stand 22 feet tall, will feature the designs of sailboat masts on one side and trees on the other…”

“…Ramsay, a former college art professor who has completed six public art projects, said Covell Park is a perfect location for his artwork because it allows a different view depending on which direction a person is traveling across the White River. The sculpture will be visible to automobile traffic and users of the adjacent recreational trail. The specific location in the park is subject to the approval by city staff…”

“…’As you drive west into Montague, you see the sailboats; as you drive east towards Whitehall, you see trees — two local visual themes fused into one public artwork,’ Ramsay wrote in a statement to Whitehall city officials…”
