Torso
The sculpture was given by the 'Lions club Tyringe' to Hässleholm municipality and is placed in the Å-parken in Tyringe.
The Torso is created by Bengt Malmquist and he was born in 1928 in Jönköping and underwent artist training during the 1950s. He studied at Otte Sköld's painting school 1951-52 and for the graphic artist and illustrator Zage Johansson in Jönköping. Malmquist initially worked in a naturalistic style, which soon gave way to the abstract. An inspiring trip to London in the 60's led him on an optical and concrete path. It is also during the 60s that he more and more abandons painting to focus on sculpture in most materials, often marble and diabase, but also carved wood.
