History and about the location:
"In March 1984 three people from Heeschen, Herman ten Haaf, Willem-Jan van den Heuvel and Jan van Loosbroek, took the initiative to set up an observatory. The first design for an observatory was presented to the public in the summer of 1984 on a stand of the Heesche Feesten. The final building plan was designed by architect Anton Valks. The reactions were very positive and on October 29, 1984 the association 'Sterrenwacht Halley' was founded.
At the end of the 1990s, the need for more space in the observatory arose. Association and foundation gradually began to develop ideas about expansion and started looking for sponsors. These were found in the municipality of Bernheze and the European fund Ceres. Architect Anton Valks designed the extension of the observatory, which was completed in 2006. The observatory is now twice as large as it was originally and now has three domes with telescopes, an auditorium, an exhibition space, a planetarium, a spacious entrance, kitchen, a library and a meeting room."
About the planetarium:
"The digital planetarium of Halley Observatory is located in a round room with a domed ceiling. A projector makes the starry sky move above your head and planets and moons come towards you. You can, as it were, take a journey through the cosmos, past countless stars and galaxies."
