Moody Point station was constructed in 1943 on a .32 acre site leased to the government. It was a Base-End Station for Battery 103 (Seamen) at Fort Dearborn. The roof was used for the anti-aircraft Intelligence Service. Searchlight #20 was located near the station.
The tower has been through many changes over the years. The biggest change was after the war when the original 2 1/2 story wooden cottage identical in design to the Salisbury Beach and Bald Head Cliff. stations was removed. The lighthouse lantern on top of the tower was added later. The building around the tower today was built in the 60s and is currently a Real Estate office.
