The tower is about 15 feet tall and is located on the easternmost point of the Fort McHenry grounds. It helps cargo ships line up with the channel that leads into the inner harbor. Oddly enough, this is not a contributing structure of the Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine district.
