While this part of North Texas has grown considerably in twenty years, one can still occasionally hear the coyotes calling at night. They're still active during the day, but typically, they're more frightened of you than you are of them, and just give them some space if you have an encounter.

This sign provides a nice photo of a coyote, along with a physical description and some background as to their eating habits, their activities, their capabilities, and their lifespans. Their paw prints are depicted as well: Compare them with the faux footprints you see in the pavement, giving the illusion that the nearby sculpture left them.
