The Town of Flower Mound ultimately plans to spruce up twenty of their signal boxes, three per year until the project is complete, and each entry will stand for at least two years before possible changes in artwork. On their
website, the Town provides a little background behind the inspiration:
The Town will accept proposals based on two themes, "The Flowers of Flower Mound" and "Celebrating Cultural Diversity." Artist proposals for the "Flowers of Flower Mound" theme can include any type of flower, with all ranges of styles are welcome. Proposals for "Celebrating Cultural Diversity" can include images of cultural specific celebrations or other significant imagery that reflects the unique beauty of cultures represented in Flower Mound.
You can see Andrea posing with her winning entry here. Of course, her design fits into "The Flowers of Flower Mound" theme, and there's a nice selection of flowers, with a few blues, but primarily reds, yellows, and oranges, and what looks to be a peach up at the top of the artwork. The pattern is repeated on both long sides, and "edited" into the short sides and the three sides of the signal box's "sidecar."
