Vindelälven is a 453 km long river system that starts at the Norwegian border and flows through Sweden. It flows through Swedish Lapland. It starts at the Ammarnäs Mountains and ends in the sea south of Umeå. It flows through changing landscapes, mountains, woodlands, bogs and coasts.
On the Vindel River there are areas where you can go canoeing and areas with river rafting, as the Vindelälven changes from being a mirror-shiny river to being rushing water with waterfalls.
The waymark is located at Vindeforsarne Nature Reserve. The Nature Reserve is a scenic section of the river with rushing rapids.
Here is walking trails, cultural heritage, campsite, hotel and several information boards. On an info sign, it is possible to listen in Swedish and English to four different stories about the Vindelälven, From source to sea, Through the seasons, Through the ages, To preserve Vindel River.
