He died on the 23rd January, 1952 on Jersey.
The shop on this site was for many years the family tailoring business described in Kelly's 1892 Directory as "Thomas Wilding Parkington - military tailor and outfitter, hunting breeches, liveries and riding trousers, 29 Abbeygate Street."
Thomas Wilding was Frederic Gershom's father.
Besides being a gifted cellist, having trained at the Royal Academy of Music, he conducted the local orchestra at Bridlington Spa for a time and broadcast for the BBC for almost thirty years. W.D. & H.O. Wills of cigarette fame included him as number 15 of their series of 50 Cigarette Cards called "Wills Radio Celebrities."
He also collected clocks and bequeathed his collection to the town of his birth on condition that it was named the John Gershom Parkington Memorial Collection, in memory of Frederic's son, 1920 - 1941, killed during WW2.
