The artist of this mural, only known as GNK, painted on the side of the building using only black, white and red paints. The background is in black (although with the sunlight in some of the pictures it appears brown). The theme is a young girl with shoulder length hair wearing a dress with a balloon. The young girl is painted in silhouette using white paint. Her heart shaped balloon is red with a white string. She is facing to the left with her left arm to her side and her right arm raised up. The artist gave the illusion of the wind blowing at the young girls back with her hair and the skirt of her dress blown in front of her. The red balloon in the upper right hand corner of the mural is released upward from her outstretched right hand.
The artist has signed the initials GNK with a faint handprint in white to the right of the mural. In the lower left hand corner of the mural is the wording 'Not a Banksy'. According to the article 'Discover JoCo's Murals' by Ashby Brame, the artist is paying homage to the well known street artist Banksy and therefor not taking credit for the design of the mural. This mural is a mirror image of the original Banksy mural of the 'Girl with a Balloon'. In the early years of Banksy's painting much of his work was done under the radar and left unsigned. More information is available in the resources listed below.
This mural is painted on the side of the building housing SignAge in Clayton. There is parking at the lot on this side of the building. The mural is painted on the cinderblock and covers just the first quarter of this side of the building.
