At this spot overlooking the sea, you will find several different cannons.
"At the signing of the Treaty of The Hague in 1795 it was decided that France could station a garrison of soldiers in Vlissingen. The ports were initially allowed to be used by both France and the Netherlands. In 1809 British troops landed on Walcheren during the Napoleonic Wars and Vlissingen was besieged (see Walcheren Expedition). On August 10, the siege forces began light shelling. Heavy shelling followed two days later. 1100 cannons were used for this. Many buildings were destroyed."
