Description

Aujourd'hui le soi-disant comte d'Egmont. A ce coin de Grote Markt et Kattestraat se trouvait le premier 'Gravensteen' ou 'Grauwensteen', le premier Landhuis d'Alost, abandonné au début du XVIe siècle lorsque ce dernier fut aménagé dans le soi-disant 'Rooze' au coin de Grote Markt-Lange Zoutstraat. L'édifice, connu grâce à une gravure, possédait un pignon gothique à gradins flanqué de flèches côté marché et une remarquable galerie de liaison avec la maison des échevins au niveau du deuxième étage (trois travées sous un toit en bâtière), faisant ainsi le pont avec la Kattestraat . Ce bâtiment a été démoli en 1776 (77?).

L'actuelle maison d'angle de deux étages et demi et cinq et six baies respectivement (Kattestraat) sous un toit en croupe en combinaison avec un toit en bâtière (tuiles), aurait été construite jusqu'en 1777 et a été construite à partir du réutilisé et re -grès taillés de l'ancien Steen. Apparemment transformée en auberge dans le courant du XIXème siècle (vers 1851) dite « Au Comte d'Egmont », rachetée par la suite par l'Association Libérale. Façades sobres et planes articulées par des moulures et des cordons continus de pierre bleue à hauteur d'allège (adaptation XIXe siècle ?). Ouvertures murales rectangulaires; apparemment à l'origine des fenêtres à volets. Corniche sur denticules; la plupart des images du XIXe siècle - début du XXe siècle montrent une balustrade en pierre (?) comme couronnement de la façade. Côté Kattestraat, grand portail en plein cintre dans un encadrement de pierre bleue à damiers, marqué par une lourde corniche. A l'intérieur, bel escalier monumental à paliers intermédiaires et poteau d'escalier élaboré à impact provincial Louis XVI (quatrième quart du XVIIIe siècle).

Description

Today so-called Count of Egmont. On this corner of Grote Markt and Kattestraat was the first 's Gravensteen' or 'Grauwensteen', the first Landhuis of Aalst, abandoned at the beginning of the 16th century when the latter was furnished in the so-called 'Rooze' on the corner of Grote Markt-Lange Zoutstraat. The building, known thanks to an engraving, had a Gothic stepped gable flanked by spires on the market side and a noteworthy connecting gallery with the Aldermen's House at the level of the second storey (three bays under a saddle roof), thus bridging the Kattestraat. This building was demolished in 1776(77?).

The current corner house of two and a half storeys and five and six bays respectively (Kattestraat) under a hipped roof in combination with a saddle roof (tiles), is said to have been built up to 1777 and was built from the reused and re-cut sandstone of the former Steen. Apparently converted into an inn in the course of the 19th century, (circa 1851) so-called 'Au Comte d'Egmont', later bought by the Liberal Association. Sober and flat facades articulated by moldings and continuous bluestone cordons at the height of the sills (19th-century adaptation?). Rectangular wall openings; apparently originally shuttered windows. Cornice on dentils; most images from the 19th century - early 20th century show a stone (?) balustrade as the crowning of the facade. On Kattestraat side, large round arch gate in a checkered bluestone frame, marked by a heavy cornice. Inside, beautiful monumental staircase with intermediate landings and elaborate staircase post with provincial Louis XVI impact (fourth quarter of the 18th century).

Beschrijving

Vandaag de zogenaamde graaf van Egmont. Op deze hoek van de Grote Markt en de Kattestraat stond het eerste 'Gravensteen' of 'Grauwensteen', het eerste Landhuis van Aalst, verlaten aan het begin van de 16e eeuw toen deze laatste werd verplaatst naar de zogenaamde 'Rooze' op de hoek van Grote Markt-Lange Zoutstraat. Het gebouw, bekend van een gravure, had een getrapte gotische gevel geflankeerd door torenspitsen aan de marktzijde en een opmerkelijke galerij die aansluit op het schepenhuis op de tweede verdieping (drie traveeën onder zadeldak) en zo de brug met de Kattestraat vormde. Dit gebouw werd gesloopt in 1776 (77?).

Het huidige twee en een half en vijf en zes traveeën hoekhuis (Kattestraat) onder een schilddak in combinatie met een zadeldak (pannen), zou tot 1777 zijn gebouwd en is opgetrokken uit hergebruikt en herzaagd uit de oude Steen. Blijkbaar in de loop van de 19e eeuw (rond 1851) omgevormd tot een herberg, bekend als 'Au Comte d'Egmont', vervolgens gekocht door de Liberale Vereniging. Sobere en vlakke gevels gearticuleerd door lijstwerk en doorlopende koorden van blauwe steen op borstweringhoogte (aanpassing 19e eeuw?). Rechthoekige muuropeningen; blijkbaar oorspronkelijk luiken ramen. Kroonlijst op tandjes; de meeste afbeeldingen uit de 19e - begin 20e eeuw tonen een stenen balustrade (?) als bekroning van de gevel. Kattestraatzijde, groot halfrond portaal in een blauwgeblokte stenen omlijsting, gemarkeerd door een zware kroonlijst. Binnen een prachtige monumentale trap met tussenbordessen en een uitgewerkte trappost met provinciale Lodewijk XVI-inslag (vierde kwart 18de eeuw).
