" The old town hall and the adjacent belfry were erected in 1565 and 1566 under the plans of the Yprois architect Joos Staesin. The building underwent three restorations in 1848, 1906 and from 1970 to 1974. The old town hall has become a restaurant.

Since 1999, the belfry has been listed as a UNESCO world heritage site, along with 32 other Belgian belfries.

The belfry is made of brick in a local Renaissance style. It extends the facade of the old town hall. The square tower is made up of six levels delimited by brick bands. The particularity of the building comes from the second level which is perforated on three sides by the use of two Tuscan columns and pilasters thus forming arcades with semicircular arches. The tower is surmounted by four stepped gables characteristic of Flemish architecture. These gables with abat-son have gargoyles at the angles and surround a small interior arrow."

"L'ancien hôtel de ville et le beffroi adjacent sont érigés en 1565 et 1566 sous les plans de l'architecte yprois Joos Staesin. Le bâtiment a subi trois restaurations en 1848, 1906 et de 1970 à 1974. L'ancien hôtel de ville est devenu un restaurant.

Depuis 1999, le beffroi est classé au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO au même titre que 32 autres beffrois belges.

Le beffroi est réalisé en brique dans un style Renaissance local. Il prolonge la façade de l'ancien hôtel de ville. La tour carrée se compose de six niveaux délimités par des bandeaux de brique. La particularité du bâtiment vient du second niveau qui est ajouré sur trois côtés par l'emploi de deux colonnes toscanes et de pilastres formant ainsi des arcades avec arcs en plein cintre. La tour est surmontée par quatre pignons à gradins caractéristiques de l'architecture flamande. Ces pignons pourvus d'abat-sons possèdent des gargouilles aux angles et entourent une petite flèche intérieure. "

"Het oude stadhuis en het aangrenzende belfort werden gebouwd in 1565 en 1566 naar de plannen van de Yprois-architect Joos Staesin. Het gebouw onderging drie restauraties in 1848, 1906 en van 1970 tot 1974. Het oude stadhuis is een restaurant geworden.

Sinds 1999 staat het belfort, samen met 32 ??andere Belgische belforten, op de werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO.

Het belfort is gemaakt van baksteen in een lokale renaissancestijl. Het verlengt de gevel van het oude stadhuis. De vierkante toren is opgebouwd uit zes niveaus die worden begrensd door bakstenen banden. De bijzonderheid van het gebouw komt van het tweede niveau dat aan drie zijden is geperforeerd door het gebruik van twee Toscaanse zuilen en pilasters, waardoor arcades met halfronde bogen worden gevormd. De toren wordt bekroond door vier trapgevels die kenmerkend zijn voor de Vlaamse architectuur. Deze gevels met abat-zoon hebben waterspuwers op de hoeken en omringen een kleine binnenpijl."
