There are 2 beds of white carnations. According to the sign near the carnation field + flag:
EN: The white carnation is the symbol of Dutch veterans
The minicipality of Vlissingen planted this filed of white carnations as token of respect and appreciation for their service.
The other sign (next to the building) reads:
NL:
The White Carnation is the national symbol for recognition and appreciation for the Dutch Veterans.
About the location / building:
"In 2020, the Meijaard-Rijsdijk Foundation bought a former school building and made it available to the veterans. This building, Elizabeth Alexander Huis, is named after the namesake of the Meijaard-Rijsdijk Foundation and is now the home of the Veterans Meeting Center Zeeland Foundation (SVOCZ)."
