Chaplain (Captain) Emil J. Kapaun served in World War II and Korea. He is the most decorated Chaplain in service history, including the Medal of Honor. He died in a North Korean camp; his remains were returned to the U.S.A. and are interred in Hawaii. A musuem nearby (in the church's former rectory) is dedicated to his memory. Kapaun is also currently a candidate for sainthood.
