"German children came to Westkapelle around 1958 for their then much-needed vacation. Initially, the emergency farm that stood close to the mill, on the current Europaplein, served as a holiday resort. In 1960 the old Chr. school out of use; it was rented out and later sold to the German church organization, which converted the school into a holiday home.
The German youth holiday home was a unique project so shortly after the war, which led to intensive contacts between Westkapelle and Mülheim."
