Rotes Haus. Das grösstentells originale Barock-
haus des Commissari Rudolph von Salis dürfte
um 1637 aus einem Umbau hervorgegangen sein.
Halbwegs scheint sich das Gebäude noch dem
Typus der schmalen Altstadthauser anzupassen,
halbwegs sucht es bereits jene eigenstandige
und repräsentative Wirkung zu erzielen, die
im 17. Jahrhundert zunehmend in Mode kam und
etwa den Oberen Spaniöl an der Kirchgasse 16
charakterisiert. Beachtenswert am Äusseren des
Roten Hauses ist nebst dem barocken Portal mit
dem Salis-Wappen auch der südlich vorgelagerte,
eingefriedete Garten. Der flachgedeckte Anbau
an das Rote Haus stammt von 1895.
