The grave of Lt. John Tibbals is marked by a marble headstone he shares with his wife Olive. The headstone has a double lunette each with the image of a willow tree. The left side of the headstone carries his inscription:
Sacred to the memory
of
Lient JOHN TIBBALS
who died with the
small pox
Dec 29th 1874
in the 58 year of
his Age.
Across the bottom of the headstone an epitaph is inscribed:
Triumph grim Tyrant in thy soils of Clay
The immortal part is raised beyond thy power
And looks from the high battlements of Heaven
With scorn on thy mean trophies here below.
