The monument is placed next to the Johanneskerk in Serooskerke.
A figure of a soldier standing with his back against a masonry wall, holding a trumpet in his right hand and placed on a pedestal on which a plaque is attached that reads:
Their lives - our freedom
Lest we forget

On the far left is a plaque placed for the fallen soldiers, sent to the Dutch East Indies 1945 to 1962
of the Ver. Former soldiers from India.
