The present day Granville Public Library replaces the previous Dickinson Library located in Granville Center. In In 1896 the Granville Library Club was formed with the mission to raise funds for the construction of the present library. The Hartford architectural firm of George Keller was selected to design the new library. Construction began on the Richardsonian Romanesque style library in 1900. On February 22, 1902 the library officially opened.

The one story high building has a hip-roof and is built of beige colored brick with dark brownstone trim on a cobblestone foundation. The façade has a set of steps leading up to a triple set of brownstone arches supported by a pair of stone columns in front of the recessed entrance. The entrance is flanked buy a double set of rectangular windows framed by brownstone trim. Above the entrance is a brownstone plaque which is inscribed:

GRANVILLE
PUBLIC LIBRARY
1900

On the north side of the library is a round tower with a conical roof and tall rectangular windows with brownstone sills and lintels. The north side has a triple set of matching rectangular windows and a triangular projection with a single window. The south side is three bays wide with a double set of matching windows at the first bay and single windows at the second and third bay. Brick chimneys are located on the north and south sides of the building.
