Chamber of Commerce
First organized in 1902 as the Kingfisher Commercial Club, a consortium of the
town's leading businessmen. Reorganized in 1926 after many years of inactivity.Renamed the "Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce," the organization faced many
obstacles and situations unique to a growing prairie town, as revealed by selected
meeting minute entries from the past:
1928 - E.A. Braken made a report showing progress on the subject of a landing
place near Kingfisher for airships.
1933 - Be it resolved tha the Chamber of Commerce of the city of Kingfisher that
the Board of County Commissioners be urged to appropriate funds for the purpose
of equipping the county peace officers with a machine gun and three or four bullet
proof vests.
1934 - A Kingfisher farmer "gave some observations as to how town people might
work with the country people for a better solution of their mutual problems."
