The Seay Mansion was built in 1892 by Abraham Jefferson Seay, the third Territorial Governor of Oklahoma. The Seay family lived in the home for several years, after which it has had numerous other owners. Over the years, the house was remodeled due to damage, and also due to the home becoming a boarding house with apartments n the second floor.

When the home was purchased by the State of Oklahoma and became part of the Chisholm Trail Museum, extensive restoration was done to bring the home back to its original state. This marker describes this, and reads:

Horizon Hill was originally three
stories, boasting five bedrooms, two
parlors, a large dining room, and a
ballroom. After a storm damaged the
home in the 1920s, the third floor was
converted into an attic, and the roof
line was lowered.

For nearly 50 years the home was
virtually unrecognizable as the grand
mansion it had been. The State of
Oklahoma acquired the house in 1965
and began extensive restoration to
bring the home back to its original
grandeur.

While the ballroom was not rebuilt
the roof has been returned to its
original appearance.
