In 1864 the Torekovs "Lifräddningsstation" life rescue station was founded.
Today Torekov is the center for all sea rescue in the area and the SSRS Torekov station was built in 1991. Today the have 2 boats and a jet ski.
All of the rescue people are volunteers.
The biggest rescue was in 12/30/1939 then the motor life boat "Torekov" rescued 10 crew on the german steamer "Neptun" af Bremen in a snowstorm (tha captain and helsman stayd on the ship).
The rescue crew was honored with the Carnegie Award.
