De Moordrechtse dorpskerk is een ruime, eenbeukige kruiskerk in gotische trant, gebouwd in 1657. De kerktoren is een stuk ouder, deze stamt uit begin 16e eeuw. Aan het begin van de 80-jarige oorlog vonden in het jaar 1574 schermutselingen plaats tussen Watergeuzen en Spanjaarden, ook in Moordrecht. De kerk brandde af, maar de toren bleef behouden en is nog steeds het middelpunt van het dorp.
De kerk werd na de 80 jarige oorlog weer herbouwd en was in 1657 gereed. De kerk is gerestaureerd van 1957-1967. Op 3 januari 2018 knakte de torenspits door een harde windvlaag en is de volgende dag naar beneden gehaald. De gemeente Zuidplas heeft de spits en haan laten renoveren en weer op de toren gezet.
Tot de inventaris van de kerk behoren een preekstoel uit de 17e eeuw met koperen lezenaar, twee banken met toogpanelen uit de 17e eeuw, vier psalmbordjes uit eind 18e eeuw en vier koperen kaarsenkronen waarvan een het jaartal 1753 draagt. Het orgel met Hoofdwerk en Positief, werd in 1772 gemaakt door J.J. Delahaye voor de Waalse Kerk te Gouda en in 1818 overgeplaatst naar Moordrecht.
Sinds 11 september 1973 is de kerk een rijksmonument. Omdat de toren een andere bouw heeft is deze als apart rijksmonument aangemerkt.

The Moordrecht village church is a spacious, single-aisled cross church in Gothic style, built in 1657. The church tower is a lot older, it dates from the early 16th century. At the beginning of the 80-year war, skirmishes took place between Watergeuzen and Spaniards in the year 1574, also in Moordrecht. The church burned down, but the tower was preserved and is still the center of the village.
The church was rebuilt after the 80 years war and was completed in 1657. The church has been restored from 1957-1967. On January 3, 2018, the spire cracked due to a strong gust of wind and was brought down the next day. The municipality of Zuidplas had the spits en haan renovated and put them back on the tower.
The inventory of the church includes a 17th century pulpit with copper lectern, two pews with 17th century vaulted panels, four psalm boards from the late 18th century and four copper candlesticks, one bearing the date 1753. The organ with Hoofdwerk and Positief, was made in 1772 by J.J. Delahaye for the Waalse Kerk in Gouda and transferred to Moordrecht in 1818.
The church has been a national monument since 11 September 1973. Because the tower has a different construction, it has been designated as a separate national monument.
