"The congregation of Long Green Baptist Church is a genuine and transparent crowd. We are not better than anyone else out there, but we are better off because we recognize and rejoice in the truths of the Bible.
We encourage those who stick around to become actively involved and engaged within (as well as outside of) our local body. Within our building there are various opportunities to serve. We have a very healthy number of children (of all ages) in our church which allows plenty of opportunities to serve simply through child care alone.
On Sunday mornings we have Sunday school followed by our normal service. Sunday evenings are when the youth meet for youth group. On Wednesday evenings we have a potluck dinner followed by a time of Bible studies (for all ages), prayer, or just general fellowship.
Outside the church walls, our members can be found serving in the various communities where God has placed them as well as alongside of some of the missionaries we support locally. For example, we partner with Restoration Church in the Curtis Bay area, Graffiti Church in downtown Baltimore City, and Stauros ministries, to name a few. Others support our brothers and sisters abroad in Scotland, as well as a few other mission trips to be determined throughout the year. Basically we have as much outreach going on as we have members, and we try and plug people in and support them wherever they feel called.
As to the style of music, we have a piano, acoustic/electric guitars, drums, violin, and the occasional tambourine. We sing contemporary music with a touch of old classics, and always try to include those even older familiar hymns – although we have been known to sing them with an updated tune every now and then.
The people here are kind, loving, and have a deep conviction to see Christ shared with those we share life with. It is our desire that when we come together as a body of believers on Sunday mornings, that we are so filled with the goodness that the God of the Bible has to offer – that when you step out of our doors, it has no choice but to spill out onto the streets!
